Cats rescued from Volcan
In March 2017 a local animal advocate learned of a woman in Volcan who was hoarding cats. Twenty six adult cats and ten kittens were found in her backyard. Most had cords tied around their necks and were on 2-3 foot leashes. Some were stuffed beneath plastic crates with big rocks weighting them down. Few had shelter from rain and sun. Working with local government authorities the advocate was able to relocate all 36 cats and kittens.

Twelve of these kitties now reside at Los Mininos, and after a couple days adjustment the Volcan kitties are doing great! Several have become quite affectionate, and truly seem grateful for their new found freedom. Three cats are very wild and cannot be handled, but Los Mininos offers them plenty of space to feel comfortable.
